With coaching, an internal television station, regular networking events and an extensive social programme including The Symposium, our annual conference in Oxford, gunnercooke provides a truly vibrant internal network. Although lawyers operate from wherever they choose, they each feel like they’re part of a wider family where every member understands their peers’ work, ambitions and challenges.

The very nature of our organisation breeds collaboration. Working within a network of experienced likeminded lawyers, you have access to a world of expertise, perspectives and potential new clients. If one of your clients needs advice on an area that you don’t specialise in, you can direct them to another gunnercooke lawyer or consultant – and earn a percentage of the fee in the process. Last year more than £12m of fees was referred between gunnercooke partners internally.

There is sometimes a misconception that our model is for solo working but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Teamwork and collaboration are at the heart of our firm and we encourage as much networking, cross-referrals and teamwork as possible. Many of our lawyers work on matters with a large team around them, comprising gunnercooke experts from a range of practice areas. Some of our partners join the firm alongside their own secretary, associate, or even a full team. You choose who you work with.

The Symposium

Every year gunnercooke holds its highlight event of the year, The Symposium. This event epitomises the gunnercooke culture of collaboration and togetherness, as we all come together to celebrate our successes. Previous themes have included ‘Good to Great’, ‘We Weren’t Born to Follow’ and ‘Wonderful Lives’. We’ve welcomed speakers including Dr. Rangan Chatterjee and Matthew Syed and enjoyed choir singing, yoga, and the haka!

The event gives our partners and staff members the ability to network with each other and make new connections, by breaking down barriers and simply having some fun. The event really is a cultural milestone and celebration for gunnercooke. It’s a fantastic and unique occasion to meet and network with partners and colleagues, new and old, from across different practice areas and regions.
